How can I cover a muddy yard temporarily for my dogs?

What can I cover a muddy area temporarily until it is paved so my dogs won't keep walking in it? Thx.

    Hi Judy,

Something temporary like a tarp? Cardboard would do in a pinch, slow the problem area from becoming more muddy, but would eventually breakdown and become part of the mud.

cardboard cardboard would definitely help maybe put a tarp underneath the cardboard and then try that or just spend a little more money crushed stone or gravel

You will have to put up a temporary fence to protect it. We used orange netting you can get at the home improvement store on one side the yard until the grass was up good then moved it to the other side and protected that part until the new grass was up good. Hope this helps.

  • You could do a temporary fence or if you're going to have it paved, you could put down gravel.

Leaves work great or even hay. I live in the country and we've had so much rain so I basically made walk path with these two materials. Fine mulch is another option.

Hi Judy. You could purchase some deer netting and poles to put around the area. Good Luck!
