Hi Rebecca, Here's some help. Also there are several posts on Hometalk to view as well. Just enter "paint fabric" in the upper left box on the home page and probably many projects will pop up.

My friend did this and it looked great but felt awful. She felt it was good for like kitchen or dining room chairs, but not for something you'd want to curl up on and watch tv. Hard, scratchy and somewhat sticky.

    Hi Rebecca,

It's harder to go from a brown to a gray but if it's a dark gray, it can be done. The reason Kelli's friend had scratchy results has to do with the amount of fabric medium or lack there off. Most directions tell you to use fabric medium with the paint and also sand each coat. Those two things can make a huge difference in the texture of the final project. Read as many articles as you can to research this project and I'd also suggest going to youtube.com to look for videos of people doing the actual process. You want to find the ones that specifically talk about the texture of the final project. Take your time and learn how to do it well before you start. Here's a link to some youtube.com projects. Be sure to watch a lot of them until you're 100% sure exactly what you want to do for success. Wishing you the best.
