How do I paint a desk?

First, sand it several times, followed by liquid sander if it had a highly shiny finish. Then either apply a primer and finish coat of paint or two coats of paint. Make sure the first paint layer dries completely before applying the second one. Also make sure that your brush strokes go in opposite directions for each coat to eliminate brush strokes on the finish.

Lightly sand to remove any shine and roughen for paint. Prime with Kilz primer then paint your color. Seal with at least three coats of a water based polyurethane.
