How do I get the smell out of used coffee canisters?

I would like to reuse my coffee canisters, but the smell of coffee is so strong, I am afraid the smell will cary over into most items put in it

Wash it well--in the dishwasher helps--if you are talking about the plastic coffee cans that you purchase coffee in. Leave it open for a few days with the lid off. The coffee smell goes way. I use them all the time to store cookies in the freezer! I also store birdseed in them and have used them for sugar and flour in the camper. There are numerous uses!

Hi Brenda. I'm Cindy. If the smell is bad, put a few pieces of charcoal in it and cover it. Give it a few days. It should deplete the smell. If it doesn't, repeat. You could also put an open box of baking soda in it. It will work the same way. Good luck Brenda and Happy Holidays.

I just wash them with dish soap while I'm washing dishes. Let sit with the lid off for several days. The smell is usually gone then.

  • Swish some cheap vodka around in it. Then wash and dry.
