Hi Mr. bill, most any potting soil will work with a bit of sand added because it will absorb moisture well. Succulents need very little water and don't like their roots wet. Here's some professional help.

I use potting soil and mine do fine.
You can purchase potting soil just for succulents usually at local lawn & garden or big box store lawn and garden area. They should carry it year round and noe is the time big stores are getting ready for spring. Package should state for succulents and have a high sand constant. Or mix your own by adding sand and fine stone or pumice to your own ground. Usually you find it labeled cactus and succulent soil. When I made my large terrarium out of a large enclosed critter cage my son wasn't planning on using anymore, I used that soil and the succulents are doing amazing. I did this three years ago and I only lost two of the succulents I put in. I bought them all at Walmart on clearance and those two were kind of iffy, but were the only ones they had of those variety's they had, so I took a chance. I replaced them with same from Home Depot and they are going strong.
