    Hi Sandy,

Light colors on the walls and ceiling, also the light fixtures add to the total room when they illuminate it well.

Hi Sandy! Avoid bulky, oversized furniture. Many homeowners fall into this trap, and it can easily make a decently-sized space look way smaller than it actually is. If possible, let in as much natural light as possible, too. Light, bright ceiling and trim paint can help as well.

    Hi, Sandy,

Painting walls and ceiling the same color, using lighter colored oak floors or carpeting, having furnishings in the same color family as painted walls, and using taller (rather than wider) furniture will help make the room appear larger.

If the room faces a hallway, try placing a mirror horizontally over the bed to make the room appear "deeper" than it actually is.

Avoid bed skirts, low to the floor or bulky furniture, big prints, intense colors. Purchasing a comforter where the design draws your eye from the hallway/foot of bed to the rear wall also helps.

If you can avoid placing the bed against a wall, do so.

Purchase matching table lamps or wall sconces to free up floor space. Keep nightstands small, with multiple shelves or 1-2 drawers, at most.

Install brighter wattage lightbulbs, in "warm" tones.
