How do I handle this? Termites found in old (30 yrs.) patio roof (wood slats). Needs replacement. Cover house and patio, then replace cover? Or, just redo the patio if localized infection?

  • You need a termite inspection ASAP, to determine how far they may have spread. If you do not treat the area(s) they will just continue munching on your home like a free Vegas buffet.

Termite services are not as expensive as you might think, so get on the phone today to set up at least 3 estimates.

The first thing you need to worry about is how bad is it and is there damage to your house as well. A professional will be able to tell you that and get rid of them for you. Replace everything that the exterminator says needs to be replace.

Thank you for the input. Termite inspection (after 3 estimates), treatment and then replacement. Good job for 2 January 2019.

    Hi, Gloria,

When replacing your patio roof, make sure your contractor uses lumber treated to repel insect infestation.
