How do I rid a Mandevilla plant of brown worm-like caterpillars?

The worm like dark brown caterpillars have attached themselves to the back of the leaves and chewed big holes then the leaves fall off. I have picked off and killed ones I could find and then poured soapy water all over the plant. One half of the plant is gone. Id like to salvage the rest

Take your plant and set it in the shower or bath tub. Spray with a mixture of 40 parts water and one part dish liquid, underneath the leaves and all over. Let sit for ten minutes and then hose off. Let sit to dry and check again for the worms. If they are still there, repeat the process. After you have completed the process and the worms are gone you can then trim it back and it will come back. You must hose the soap off the plant or you will damage the leaves.
Yes, that is okay to do. That is what I do with mine before bringing it into the house for the winter. You have to be sure to get under the leaves. The soap and water spray also gets on the top soil and that also helps. The little bit of soap that gets into the soil will not hurt the plant but will help to kill off anything else that is in there. Good Luck!

I spray mine with Seven dust.....never has hurt the plant, but kills all critters
