How can I turn my vintage dining table and chairs into a white country kitchen?
Hi, I think that you will have to probably sand your table and chairs then paint them.
Lightly sand to remove any gloss and roughen for paint. Prime with Kilz primer then paint your white. Seal with three coats of a water based polyurethane.
Make sure you clean between sanding and priming. Use either TSP or denatured alcohol.
Leaving the table top wood and painting the legs and apron white creates a lovely country look. Clean them well before painting. For covering dark colors, I like to prime first. Then I like to use latex paint in eggshell. Not top coat needed.
