galvanized/copper/pvc pipe and some chain Here's basic idea need to cut pipe to size you need just don't put bottom legs on it ;sink rebar into ground where you want sign and slip pipe over it if you want permanently atttached, attach rebar into pipe then sink into ground the taller the sign/pipes the taller the rebar piece for stability https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6-5HFMHi88 more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KD9yWuqz48w more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxzFflU9Ti8
Free standing or on a building?
I'm thinking it will be the center piece of a new flower bed. It was a Christmas gift. It is very heavy
consider the weight and the size of the sign -- 2 x 5 is not only heavy if it's IRON, but will be subject to the force of the wind ... significant anchors/support will be called for!
you are so right, that is why I think it would be best near the ground as a part of a new landscape bed.
sounds lovely, -- maybe 4 x 4 cedar posts ... sort of 'rustic' -- and more in balance to the size of the sign than pipes ....
