You need a plumber to install. They are quite complicated for the DIY. Sizing, plumbing, gas line, safety controls, venting.

We have a Rinnai tankless water heater. Plumber has to install due to running gas and water supply lines. if it is installed by a reputable plumber you shouldn’t have to worry about carbon monoxide any more than with any other gas appliance. We love ours, never run out of hot water although it does take about 1-1.5 gals of water to get the hot water to the faucet, i just save this in a pitcher for cooking or watering plants

Thank you, but my whole house is electric and the water heater is in the attic, which is something I still can't understand.

Our tankless heater is in the basement and we waste so much water before the hot water reaches the bath rooms and kitchen up stairs!

You should consider installing a hot water recirculation pump. These are pretty standard in Las Vegas where water is a premium.

This is absolutely NOT a DIY project. Even a professional has to be specially certified for tankless water heater installs.

That being said, yes, I think they are worth it.

I work in HVAC. Our business installs them. Message me if you have any questions about it. I think it's worth it to get a recirculating style tankless. I prefer the service record of Rinnai, but the Navien has some excellent technology. Check with previous tankless customers before deciding on the HVAC company or plumber to use.
