How do I store my Christmas lights?

We wrap ours around a piece of cardboard and put them in a tote.

I wrap mine around cheap clothes hangers. I guess they could be hung up, but I put mine in totes to keep them dust-free.

At one time I purchased reels (I think at Big Lots), or wind around a piece of cardboard. Stored in stackable plastic tubs to keep clean and not get smashed.

I store my Christmas lights by wrapping each length of lights around a cardboard rectangle. Then I put each wrapped bundle into a clear plastic bin. I can see what is inside and the lights stay untangled for another year! Happy New Year!

Yep, sturdy plastic bins with snap or clamp lids are the answer, as they keep the lights protected, clean, dry, and can be stacked. Purchase bins large enough to accomodate multiple strands plugged in together with the right extension chords and even the stake or timer on the end.

As you take the strands off before you put them in the bins, be sure to take a few minutes and mark each group of strands, or bundle (with a simple cardboard tag twist tied on) with where they go in your display. Mark the plug ends and extension chord ends as to where they plug into next.

Doing this will pay off big time next season when you start taking the lights out of the bins to put them up again.
