How do I clean old car headlight covers?

My truck is a 2003. The headlights are not bright anymore. I know there’s a way to get the gunk off. Can someone help me, please? Thank you in advance.

Rub on dabs (not great gobs) of toothpaste with a dampened soft cloth or towel to the cool lens, rubbing in a circular motion in part of the headlight that needs it. Remember to work on the edges if dulled or scratched.

After a few minutes of rubbing use a damp clothe and buff dry.

The jell toothpastes won’t work, you need to get the old fashioned stufff with the gritty stuff in it.

    Toothpaste & wet washcloth

I used WD-40 and a little elbow grease...works like a charm. Spray the WD on your rag, not on the plastic lense.

I used the old fashioned toothpaste & my plastic lenses are really cloudy, so the toothpaste hasn’t helped much. Maybe I just need to break down & buy new ones. LOL I’m sorry I wasn’t more clear.
