Enzyme cleaners work the best. Oxyclean a lso works amazingly well.
I use Nature's Miracle.
Stay away from bleaches and water. Naturally, the first step is to get a hot rag dampened rubbing the area to neutralize the acids and ammonia. Oxiclean so far with soap and water has worked out well for me. I have a cat who is 13. He doesnt spray because hes an indoor cat and we are OCD about being clean. There is also a spray you can buy at walmart to keep cats or dogs from scratching or damaging furniture. Spray on the corners of all furniture. It works. I'm an MIT student and graduate, we question and challenge everything.
This stuff is a lifesaver with my three pets: https://amzn.to/2R88wjQ
