Whether you like it or not, winter is definitely here.

For us, rain or snow means having lots of friends over for game nights! We love hosting, and we always make sure there are enough refreshments and hot beverages for everyone.

And hot beverages means coasters!

But our old faithful coasters, those with the beer stains all over them, belong to summertime.

So, it was time to create new ones.

We ordered silicone molds from Amazon.

The size of the molds is 4" in diameter and 0.8" in depth.

With each mold you can make three coasters at a time, so don't make the mistake I did - get two molds in advance and make an entire set of six at once.

We placed the desired items at the bottom of the silicone mold and poured a thin layer of Epoxy (about 0.2") on top of it.

Make sure you are working on a perfectly level table to get the best result.

You can place almost anything you like inside the Epoxy.

We used dried flowers and chopped wood, but you can use pictures, pigments, glitter, cut-out letters and many other things!

If you're using big items pour the first layer of Epoxy first, and then place the items inside. This way you avoid having air bubbles underneath.

After a few hours (depends on the ambient temperature), when the Epoxy was still a bit warm and flexible but no longer a liquid, we poured the second layer.

Then, we waited about 24 hours for the Epoxy to cure completely.

In the winter when it's colder outside, it might take up to 48 hours for the Epoxy to completely cure. It’s best to set it in a warm place, but keep it indoors in a clean environment.

When it was 100% solid, we took out the first batch.

We absolutely love this mold! It is high quality silicone, which makes it super easy to demold.

Plus, it is really smooth with makes the Epoxy as transparent as it can be!

Or invite a friend for a warm cup of coffee (and a slice of pie).

And basically, that’s it.

You are ready to host a Movie Night in your living room and serve hot sangria with the popcorn,

Or host a dinner party,

Have a warm winter! icon

About how much epoxy did you use?

Love these! So many possibilities! Do the fresh flowers keep their color? Thanks!

Your epoxy has a tea colored tint to it. Is it my phone, the reflection of the table they're on or the items you placed in the epoxy? Just wondering as I would like to do a coastal theme, but dislike the epoxy tint. Love your ideas though. Great job!

I love the coasters and plan on trying this project. I would like it if you would share your "hot sangria" recipe with me or every hometalker. 😀

Hey Sheri, thanks for your comment!

I would love to share my recipe with you, it's really easy:

First, I squeeze 3 big oranges and I mix it with 4 spoons of sugar.

Then, I add a bottle of dry red wine and mix it on the stove with a pinch of cinnamon and a 1 sliced apple.

You have to keep stirring it for at least 3 minutes (until it's steamy but not boils).

Taste it before you take it off, if it's too sweet- add lemon slices to it (not another orange), if it's lacking of sweetness add another spoon full of sugar and wait till it melts completely.

      Enjoy!
