Door closes and sounds like it catches but when you pull on the door it opens without turning the knob. How do you fix ‘this issue?

The metal strike plate in your door frame likely needs to be adjusted. It should be a mater of removing the two screws in it, re-positioning it and then screwing it back in.

Does this happen all of the time or only certain times of the year? I find humidity can effect a door in this way.

It sounds like the door catch isn't popping out far enough to engage the door latch hole. It may be either binding or the alignment may be off. Lube may fix the first problem. A little filing of the latch hole may fix the 2nd problem. Put some chalk or lipstick on the latch to see where it tracks.

Try tightening hinges. I've found that this tends to cause doors not to latch properly even more than issues with the strikeplates. If door is not hanging properly due to loose hinge-plate screws, it will throw off the latch/strikeplate alignment too. If screws won't tighten (over time, the holes can sometimes enlarge and get stripped), remove the screw and make the screwhole tighter by putting a simple wooden toothpick into it with a little wood glue or even white glue. Once dry, cut or break toothpick so it's not protruding beyond the hole and re-attach screw. The toothpick is often enough "filler" to ensure a tightly gripping screw.

    Good luck!

    Try graphite powder

Alternatively, it is best to use the services of a local locksmith to help you. You can check the site https://www.locksmith-illinois.com/commercial-locksmith/
