How do I paint over 1970's paneling in a mobile home?

I primed with binz123 then used Berh paint, it sucks up the paint but glad I went with quality products it turned out very well and total transformation wth not much effort or expense, it my painting projects I have found it is worth it to buy quality paint it has better coverage , pigment and the finished product if well worth it.

HI Stormy. Wipe them down to clean them. Fill any holes with a wood nail filler then lightly sand those areas so it blends. I would use a oil base primer. It is a little more expensive but I found it to cover better on paneling. Then paint. Good Luck!

If it is wood clean it good with Dawn dish soap and water or a cleaner like TSP. Sand lightly. Then use a primer like KILZ and then paint whatever color you like. When I did my 90's mobile home the paneling was vinyl coated with ugly vertical strips to cover the gaps between the panels. We remove those and filled in with printable caulk. Cleaned well with soap and water, primed then painted. Hope this helps you.

That should be paintable caulk.

Paint Paneling

Make sure the paneling is clean and dry. Prime with a good stain blocking primer like Kilz. Then paint like painting regular walls. If the paneling has grooves you can fill them with non shrink drywall patching compound. Just put on enough to fill the grooves. Let it dry overnight. Next day use a damp sponge to smooth the patch. Then prime and paint.
