How do I paint a brick house?

With reg exterior paint. Faster and easier if you use a paint sprayer. Will still have to paint by hand areas where you change color or around doors and windows.

Do not skip the prep! First power wash the entire house and brush to remove loose mortar and smaller brick crumbs. If there are any areas to repair, you must let them cure for several weeks until the moisture from the mortar has evaporated. The brick must be dry before you start to paint! Begin with a primer for masonry as a first step, then paint with exterior paint. I like Sherwin Williams exterior paint.

Keep in mind that ideally, brick should breathe, and paint will inhibit this. There are numerous articles about this, online.

You'll need to keep up with the painting, once done, to maintain pristine appearance. Make sure your paint won't "bleed" onto lawn, concrete, etc.

Just use hooks, one row higher than the other. Top row for adults, bottom row for kids or shorter adults.

Buy concrete/masonry stain, as it actually dyes the masonry & lets it breathe, and will never peel.

It can be mixed into any color, but like dying cloth, you can’t go lighter.

Powerwash the bricks first, as they must be clean & dry.

Since it will be a ton of work to hand stain the edges of the bricks, consider either:

1.) using an airless sprayer & plan on the mortar joints getting stained too

2.) use a similar color of stain to the bricks and hand wipe the edges after you roll the faces with a thick nap roller.

Hand staining the mortar joints will take forever and soak up a lot of stain.
