What wall colors would look best in my house?

I just purchased a house a few months ago. The entire inside of the house is painted white.......the walls, ceilings, cabinets, doors, frames and baseboards, ect. I have tile that looks like real wood and its a medium hue, not too dark but not light. My countertops are a white marble with black streaks throughout. I would really like to add some dark gray to some of the walls but I'm not too sure what else would go with dark gray. Any ideas on what other color(s) would look good? Only thing I could really think of was to do dark gray with beige and red. Not a bright or blood red and not a maroon, just a little darker red. What do you guys think?

Always start with a pattern that has many colors. Like a rug, fabric for window treatments. Bedding, furniture . Choose your colors from there. Everything goes with white.

Hi! My home has vintage white on the first floor and gray walls in the bedrooms and downstairs bathroom. The floors are gray plank. The moldings are white and the doors are a deep espresso brown. It is open concept on the first floor so the continuous color works well. The windows have aqua blue and off white curtains and I have red accents, especially in the kitchen where I have white marble counters and white subway tile. But with a neutral background you can use any color you truly like, Every thing you mentioned sounds great. I have thought of an accent wall and a dark gray also sounds great. As long as your line of sight flows, you will love your updates.

Hi Spankey. I'm Cindy. We just painted our master bathroom a dark gray with bright white trim. I was so apprehensive when we picked the paint out. Now that it's up on the walls, I absolutely love it. It has a timeless look. And the trim looks fresh and clean. I went with coral accents. It looks like I hired an interior decorator. So my vote is for dark gray and white trim. Good luck Spankey.

Yes everything will go with white,I agree! As I said in my post though, I definitely want to incorporate a dark gray paint. That is what is throwing me for a loop! I'm not sure what colors would look good with the dark gray! I do prefer darker colors but I also don't want to make my house look like a dungeon lol! I was thinking of keeping some of the white or maybe even toning it down a bit and painting a beige over the white (the white in my house is a very bright white!) so I would have some white or beige and some dark gray, but what else would look good with that? Dark gray is kind of a tough one to get other colors to blend with, at least when I try to picture another color with it in my mind it is!

  • Everything goes with white, choose any colors that make you happy. If you want gray, buy samples and put them up on the walls and live with them for a bit then narrow down to your favorite. Gray is another neutral so the red would be good for a pop of color. Skip the beige, too many neutrals, it will look dull and boring. You are not dull and boring. Blues go good with gray too. So do yellows. Pull out an old fashioned color wheel! Choose complimentary colors.

i think you might be picturing a cool dark gary and that is why you can't think of colors to go with it. How about painting the walls a creamy off white and have a few accent walls a dark, WARM gray. Leave the trim bright white. Your couches and area rugs could be a gray color similar to the gray walls. You can pull accent colors from artwork, area rugs, draperies, chair cushions , etc. So find and coordinate those things and then you will have your color scheme.
