How do I muffle the sound of our pool filter?

Our pool filter is unfortunately close to our deck..making it sometimes hard to hear people in the pool and pool areas...I can't cover it because it's has to have air flow....sooooo what can I do?

  • Build a lattice screen around it is the best you can do. Relocating generally can cost a bit of money.

I have had a pool at a couple of houses I have lived in over the years and they have been super quiet. Perhaps there is something wrong with the motor or the impeller. Check it out to find out if there is something loose or defective.

    • Thank you for your comment...but we have replaced it a couple of times sense we have lived here and the sound is always the same...it's only 5ft away....

    Gloria,

We had the same issue. Our filter was just below a kitchen window. Your filter does not need to run all the time. Depending on where you live and what your bather load is like, you can use a timer to run the filter when it will be the least bothersome. We ran ours 6 hours on and 6 hours off. That will be sufficient for the quality off your water if your chemicals are balanced. (On 6 A.M. to noon/off noon to 6 P.M./on 6 P.M. to midnight/off midnight to 6 A.M.) Your filter motor does need air to cool the motor and dissipate the heat generated by the motor, however you can still cover most of it. They do make covers specifically for noise reduction, but they are very expensive. You could make your own. Check out Pinterest and YouTube. Many people have come up with creative solutions.
