This summer my husband and I bought a significantly larger house. I didn’t have enough Decor for our new house, and instead of spending a lot of money on new decor, I DIY’d my own for a fraction of the cost.

One of those DIYs is wall art! I needed large art to cover some walls. So I bought a few larger canvas art pieces from offer up for 5$ each. One of them was this Zebra picture

I began by using a drywall spatula and adding a lot of texture in White acrylic paint. Just huge heavy swipes of white.

When it dried I just painted the entire canvas white in heavy brush strokes (which gets more texture) to cover the entire canvas and to creat a blank slate for color.

Next I took my drywall spatula and started adding paint to it, then scraping it on the canvas. Then I finished it off with rose gold leafing which popped and completed the look.

For a full view of what I did, you can watch it here;

I put this painting in our Media room to give a blank wall some color! I love how it came out! :)
