Hmm well, you're gonna have a six inch gap on one side. I'm wondering if a narrow pull out rack might be kinda nice there for storage. I know you can purchase them on Amazon, the pic I'm attaching is KINDA what I was thinking of. What type of counter top are you dealing with on top? For a really inexpensive (and not permanent) solution, a butcher block cutting board cut to fit over the gap might work ok.
