How do I stop a leaking in roof?

My home had the roof torn off in a hurricane . It has been tarped (Blue Roof) and then had the 5/8 plywood replaced and has been dried in with good quality roofing underlayent overlapped properly by a roofer then had new tarping put on over that. We are waiting for metal roofing to become available. When I came home there were several large puddles inside on on the new flooring . The ceiling and insulation have not been installed yet. What needs to be done to stop the leaking? Several roofers have already re tarped it.Will the new standing lap metal roofing fix the problem or must something else done first?

  • Well at this point everything needs to dry out before the roof can go on. Once the new roof is on you will be sitting pretty. How long before the metal roof is scheduled to arrive? Then the insulation and then the ceiling can be installed. Until that time you run the risk of leaks every time it rains or the wind blows.

Your roof is only half done. The tarping is only temporary and a band aid fix. It will leak since water finds the path of least resistance. Any nail holes, cracks, gaps. Once the metal roof is available the tarps will need to be removed, any damaged underlayment replaced, and metal roof installed. Have the roofer locate the leaks and seal them as best is possible until your roof is finished.
