Sounds like a good idea. You can do the shelves then attach the boards for desk between the two
I'm Linda. You could make it easy by using 2 small book cases on each side with a top across them to be the desk. For the top, you could purchase a plywood (or other type) of board and either cut it to size yourself or have it cut for you at a big box home store. Sand it smooth, add some molding around the edges and prime then paint everything. I'd also seal the top with an acrylic sealer. Above the desk on the walls, you could install more shelves using brackets of your choice. Again, you could cut them yourself or buy some pre-made ones that will fit your area. If 2 book cases takes up too much room, you could use a book case on one side and install legs to the top on the other side. If you don't have the skills to make this, you could probably even find a small desk or even a table that would work. If there is room on either side of the desk, you could also install lower shelves in that area. There are a lot of different "shelf systems" available so look locally to see what you can find. Here's one made by another Hometalk member that uses crates instead of a book case. That's another idea. I hope these ideas help. Wishing you the best!
