How do I organize my two year old's toys?

Not sure how many toys or what type but I loved these units when my boys were little. They don't take up much space and are readily available. I got the little fabric cubes to put toys in so that it was clean appearing in the room. We were in a small condo so the play room was also the first room everyone entered.

You can get these in any color and the fabric cubes comes in a ton of colors too. So I would guess for $100.00 you could have that type of set up one and done.

I've seen these at Walmart and on Amazon.

3 years???? What is on the upper level that you do not use? Visit thrift shops, goodwill, second hand stores, habitat re store for dressers for you and your husband and shelving units you can upcycle with paint. Look into storage cubes and ottomans for toys, extra bedding and clothes. After 3 years, I would entertain the thought of hiring a professional organizer for a half day to get you jump started. Not as expensive as you might imagine. I am certain the home has options, you just are not seeing the potential. At this point free Xerox paper boxes from the copy store, then covered in contact paper would be better than nothing.

Photos of your condo and contents needing a place would be very helpful, but I have the feeling you need to either put things into storage or seriously purge all of your belongings. 1200 sq. ft. is small, but if you don't have access to the full space, it's like living in a micro sized N.Y. apartment.

Without floor and closet storage, your only option is vertical. Install shelving with a rail, for toys, or buy under bed see through storage bins on wheels.

You obviously need a very tall chest of drawers. Have you looked in second hand shops or antique shops? Ikea sells very tall cabinets under their "PAX system". They're not good for children's use, but would help you and your husband. They can be customized with pull outs, sections for accessories, hanging rods, pull out drawers.

You can purchase wire shelving to install inside your closets/bathroom.

Your (queen sized?) bed linens can be folded very small and placed in a drawer depth of 6". If creatively folded, you can fit at least 6 bath towels onto a hall linen closet shelf with an 11" depth.

Toiletries not needed immediately can be stood vertically at rear of shelf, so they're visible. Pharmacy type items should be secured and placed on high shelves.

Shoes in clear boxes are more easily stacked. It may not suit your preferred convenience factor, but you'll have to make concessions if you want this to work.

Put your blouses over slacks or a skirt on one hanger. Folded items, placed atop each other in opposite directions can conserve space.

Canned goods can be stacked. Purchase only what you can use within 2 weeks time.

Your child can probably get along with 1/3 the amount of toys. Sell or donate the remainder to less fortunate childrens' groups.

Everything can just be tossed right into the bins and put away.

Cubby storage and fabric bins are wonderful! You can even get stacking bins for the top. :)
