How do I do a basement ceiling?
Drop ceiling not an option as it is not standard height plus I have hot water boilers so many water pipes running thru ceiling joists as well. I know it won't ever look like drywall but I would like it to look better than wood covered in spider webs

Hi Linny. I'm Cindy. Have you given any thought to using flooring on your basement ceiling? It does not require any glue. So taking it down would not be an issue. I would go with a light color to give the appearance of more height.
the 'industrial' look is very popular ... I'd prime/paint the 2 x 4 and clean up the pipes and add some 'industrial look' hanging lights ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqKM5VhSWTQ the 'computerized' voice is terrible ... but the video shows what I'm talking about ..

We just finished installing a waterproof laminate on the floors...which is an absolutely fabulous product! Now I wish we had considered painting the rafters first...

Nicole on Rehab Addict (DIY channel) did a basement ceiling like yours. She had it all painted white except any nice, clean looking pipes and it looked great!
