How do I make an artistic collage?

Question

Generally i find collage made by cutting pieces of paper or another materials. I would like to learn how to paint and glue a collage. Like the type of Juan gris.Of course it depends on the person that make it..but it was just to explain it further.

Hello!

My daughter made gorgeous mosaic collage portraits using magazines ads with each color cut up. For a beginner using a pixilated photo —would be helpful imagery to start with in separating the colors to place —in a paint by numbers fashion. She would glue the colors on canvas panels and use modpodge. Im not sure if this would be an technique that would -interest you?
