What kills mold and prevents future growth?
More importantly is determining what is causing the mold and rectifying that, otherwise you will continue to have new mold growth. Do you have wet insulation as a result of a roof leak? Do you not have enough air flow between your soffit vents and ridge vent? Is you kitchen or bathroom exhaust fan being improperly vented into your attic? A mold remediation company will spray an encapsulating fungicide that will prevent future growth. You can do it yourself. There are better products than bleach and vinegar to tackle large projects like an attic. Check this out:
Vinegar. But since it is in your attic, you have poor ventilation and this may not be a homeowner DIY. You may just have to call in the pros for this one. If more than surface mold you need the pros. Here is how to hire a contractor.

Thanks for all the help. We already know the cause, but are trying to save some money on remediation. Right now one estimate is $4200.
