Easy DIY Summer Flowers Painted Pillow Toppers

I love how easy it is to change our outdoor porch pillows for the seasons and holidays by making pillow toppers. I've shared here how I made them for autumn using leaf cutouts and seasonal colors, St. Patrick's Day with green and shamrocks, spring painted songbirds and patriotic summer holidays using red, white, and blue bandanas.
I was up for a cheerful, summer floral theme after our July 4th decorations, so I decided to use my (very) basic painting skills learned on the spring songbird toppers to paint flowers. I'm just thrilled with how they turned out!

The one thing I want to encourage you with is that these are only the second thing I've ever painted. I am not a painter by any means! And I don't have an ounce of drawing ability in me. These paintings are just simple strokes of a brush. I know you could do it, too!
I started with leftover fabric from my stash and used basic acrylic craft paints. Mostly I painted a daisy-type flower in a couple of colors. But I also made a hydrangea bloom that actually looks like one using the same simple brush stroke technique.
This topper with geraniums in a basket was the most challenging of the designs, and I painted the basket first, then added the geraniums and the leaves. The geraniums are just splotches of bright and dark red on my brush.
I'm just thrilled with how they turned out and the bright, cheery tone they add to our summertime porch! Be sure to visit our site for complete details so you can make your own easily painted summer porch pillow toppers and take a video tour!
