How do I get a lemon tree I started from a seed to get branches?

Oh honey, it needs to grow for a few more years! Nature knows what to do! Here is one of mine, I think this one is about a year and a half old, has grown since this photo was taken in September. I have in a jumbo pot.

So growing a fruit tree from fruit seed is unlikely to produce a plant that will yield edible fruit. Fruit varieties grown today are the results of years, even decades, of breeding to create that super sweet apricot or seedless grape. Nearly every fruit tree sold today is grafted, including Meyer lemons.

I'd give it some more time. Think of the trees you can buy at the garden center. They don't have branches when they're young either.
