How do I add a frame to a mirror?

You have a few options, depending on what look you are going for.

If you just want the look of a frame, without physically attaching one, try painting a border around the edge. Make sure you tape it out so you have straight lines. You can use spray paint for an even easier approach (if you do this, make sure you cover the center so that stays clean).

You could also try buying moulding/trim from the hardware store. This route gives you a lot of options for the style and overall size of the mirror (a thicker trim will make the mirror appear larger, even when the actual reflective part stays the same size). You also have more chances to play with texture and color here.

The 3rd option is, in my opinion, the toughest. Try going to a thrift store and finding an old frame that's the right size and repurpose it. I say it's the hardest because you are very dependent on what they already have in stock and you may not find what you are looking for on the first try.

I had a builder grade mirror in my master bath. Very plain and large - I went the route of using wide trim, painting it white, used liquid nails to attach Velcro to the back of the boards, leave your Velcro on each board attached to each other then applied liquid nails to the Velcro that would touch the mirror (so it’s exactly where you need it), then hold it in place for about 5 minutes.
