How can I remodel a cedar chest?

This is an old Cedar chest passed down. Right now it is stuck in a corner of a bedroom because we don't know what to do with it. Any ideas on how to "remodel it" to make it a functional piece in house somewhere.

Hi Renae, as someone who was passed FOUR cedar benches I know your pain lol. Sometimes its hard to know where they work best in a home. Currently I am using one as a coffee table, one in a closet for scarves, hats etc., one in my barn for horse blankets and the other is at the end of my bed and stores all my extra sheets for me. Hope that helps!

    Add cushions for seating.

Toy chest if you have children around.

Larger items that are not used often or seasonal decor.

  • Always wanted a cedar chest but never had one! Place any items in it that might be eaten by moths. Use as an entry way bench, a coffee table, at the end of the bed, toy chest, linen storage, or store seasonal home decor.

Add legs to change look, tall legs to make higher side/sofa table or even bar;add cushions use in mud rm/entrance of house as shoe storage;add cushions use in bathrm or bdrm as benches/storages;How about a nice cooler box https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPeppnaPibc

  • I'm thinking about buying one to use as an entry bench. It seems like it would be great for storage of shoes and kid's backpacks, but still provide seating.
