    Nipperroo, here are a few videos to look over. I know my Dad used lime for this purpose on the farm.

    LIME IS THE ANSWER! of either quicklime or hydrated lime, dries up wet soil quickly, so that it can be compacted readily, forming a working table that will resist further wetting as well--you can get back to work! hydrated lime are both highly effective in drying wet clay and silt soils.

    Lime won't work. If you have mud, you probably have a drainage issue. I'd look into sloping the land more into channels so water runs off or planting more water-loving plants to soak up the extra water.
