How do I save a pretty throw rug that’s only worn on the rubber back

Little particles of rubber or whatever prevents it from sliding are dusting my wood floor. The rug itself is beautiful and not worn on the pretty side & don’t wanna toss it! Thanks

Most rubber backings consist of a natural rubber product – liquid latex -- painted on to the back of the rug. When the rug still has a lot of wear in it, instead of tossing it, put a new coat of natural, environmentally safe latex on it. You can find this liquid material at most hobby and sewing stores, especially when they also sell rug-making kits.
Hi Monica, you can get rid of the rubber backing by scraping off any loose bits of with a soft-bristle brush. Cut any dangling and shake out the rug thoroughly to get rid of any extra bits and them paint on a new layer of liquid latex

Monica,. Buy a rubber mat the same size of the rug, or if you can cut one to fit it. Use Velcro to attached the mat and the rug, or double face tape, the widest one you can buy. Scrape as much off the back of the rug, then vacuum it.
I would try to attach it to another mat. Maybe an inexpensive black mat, just glue the one you have to the top.
