How do I soften the look of this wall?

I recently painted this accent wall in my formal dining room. The color is perfect but the effect lacks character. I want to soften it. Can you offer suggestions? Thank you 😊

Not sure what your definition of "lacks character" means. Could you please elaborate on the effect you are trying to achieve.

I think you need some contrast , the wall looks good ! Maybe go to hard sales or good will and pick up different size and shaped frames , look for a few that might be more ornate or have texture, don't worry about any painting or picture in them , just take them and the glass out. You only need the frames then spray paint them white . Then arrange them on your floor , move them around until you get the look you're happy with ( hint : take a picture with your phone so you can remember )

Then hang them on the wall. I also saw that someone traced the frames on newspaper , cut them out and taped them to the wall to arrange the frames.

I think the white frames against your painted wall , will bring attention to it , without distracting it with pictures .

Use a Sponge to paint and add an accent of a Lighter Texture.

Elegant? Think silver with your purple. Think a few large items, not small keitch - ornate wall sconces...a grouping of silver plate trays (cheap from a thirft store - people don't want to polish them)....Remember the wall has to blend with the rest of the room...

Elegant! Nice! Think silver with your purple. A few outstanding items - wall sconces - a collection of silverplate trays (cheap at a thrift store - people don't want to polish them, but elegant) Not a lot of nick-nacks on the wall. Remember, the wall has to blend with the rest of the room.

  • I agree with silver or greens, in this case lighter greens and or yellows go well with purple if you added a large piece of artwork? Mirror would add glamour if you went the silver accent route.
