Use Sail tarps. They are triangular canvas tarps made for shade.
You can use Bamboo Shades in any backyard. You just need to construct Poles from Pipes, sink those in concrete, place the Elbows on the Cross Pipe at the Top and then attach your Blinds. You put the blinds away in the Seasons you don't want these exposed, otherwise you can always spray these with Flexseal, Exterior Paint, Even a Paint by Numbers Scene, or other weatherproofing.

The effectiveness and longevity of sail tarps depends on the degree to which the supports and hardware are securely attached. If not, they will rip and 'sail' away in the wind.
The same is true for offset cantilevered umbrellas. They are an instant source of shade, but once again, the frame needs to be anchored down into concrete. There are also wall mount styles available.
