Our daughter used to clean for a lady that had her apply car polish to her cupboards and tiles in her bathrooms. I never tried it, but she swore she always did the same all her long life. She said it kept them shiny and the water minerals etc did not cling to them that way. Maybe it would not hurt to try it? I think she used turtle wax.
Car wax-definitely!
For glass shower doors and mirrors, I apply Rain-x x-treme glass cleaner. I use it every few months and then just touch up with windex weekly.
