Make the transition from Christmas to winter and the house a little cozier and brighter with a Winter Nesting Tree to enjoy in January and February!

Have you put away all your Christmas decor? I always feel a little blue after the Christmas tree comes down and I miss the soft glow of the twinkling lights. A couple of years ago, I decided to transform the Christmas tree into a 'Winter Nesting Tree', a cheery solution for the months of January and February when it’s cold and gray outside.

I packed up Santa and his reindeer and removed all the red and green after Christmas. I have an assortment of bird ornaments collected over the years that flock to my  Potting Shed in December. They migrated to the tree after Christmas, along with some glittery nests for some winter nesting!

The top of the tree is decorated with icy branches, found at Michaels on clearance at 80% off last year. I cut them apart to have more branches and picks to add to the tree.

They join glittery snowflake picks that i had in my Christmas decorating stash I used for my Puppy Bouquet and White Christmas Arrangement. You can find those posts on my blog or here at Hometalk.

I have an assortment of nests in my Christmas decorating stash collected over the years.

Glittery nests were a Hobby Lobby find several years ago. If you have a Hobby Lobby near you, you know it's a great place to shop for Christmas decor as its all 50% off October through December. You can also download their mobile app to your phone to access their weekly 40% off coupon when you shop.

Snowy white sparkling bands of ribbon were 50% off and found at Hobby Lobby to add some dimension and a wintry mix to the tree. The 15 foot bands of ribbon retain some of their curl which makes it easy to tuck in among the branches of the tree and let it bands drape down the tree. I used 4 rolls for my 7 1/2 foot tree. They were my only purchase and addition to the tree this year.

Snowflake ornaments add a little sparkle for a gray and dreary month.

I’ve added a few owls to my ‘parliament’ over the years, and to help me celebrate with a Happy Owl-idays Table.

Our Winter Nesting Tree extends the twinkle season beyond Christmas to enjoy during the winter months, with snowflakes, icy branches, glittery nests, pine cones and bird ornaments. As it’s artificial I don’t have to worry about it drying out and becoming a fire hazard. More photos and details at the blog link below!
