Repairing a drop ceiling is a breeze. Remove all of the remaining ceiling tiles from the affected area. Find the area or areas of the drop ceiling where the wire hangers failed. Screw a wood screw into the wooden joist directly above where you have the hanger wire.
Tongue and groove square ceiling tiles. Stapled to 1X2 firing strips. I had a similar situation in my basement a few years ago only worse. I used some drywall patching compound on my finger and forced it onto the seams leaving the groove. Once dry I painted the tiles and looked as good as new. Simple fix.
i cant tell from photo if yours are porous or solid. Mine looked same and were solid. We had an area where water had leaked...The joke is not from pipes from a water cooler above that leaked. Prime and paint it will look great...but...it takes a two coats primer and a good few coats of paint. No i did not use ceiling paint. We were painting walls and just used same paint . It fine and clean and no spots.
That is a tough fix, unless you have some of the same tiles lying around somewhere. These ceilings are rather older type. I had a situation, similar, but in one area, I replaced the ceiling with another type. So, I carefully removed some of the existing tiles, and then replaced the bad in the area I was keeping it original. If you do not have this option, then I suggest you do a patch job as best you can, and paint it. If you wish to replace it, then you have numerous options. Sorry this wasn't much help, but those are a tough fix, to do right, because they are stapled to the board, and they rip very easily trying to get them off, and especially if you don't have any spare tiles that match. If this is a true "drop" ceiling, you just remove the damaged tile and replace with a new one. Drop ceilings are tiles suspended in hanging rails; you can tell if it is true by pushing up on the tile, it will move easily.
Agree with Sarah, just remove and replace the damaged tile
