How do I save and redo a leaded & beveled glass window?

The beveled glass is attached on the top of a pane of old glass we took out of our living room. I want to save the leaded beveled glass. Maybe reframe and possibly need to clean up the lead.

  • Take to a local stained glass craftsperson for the best results. Look them up in the phonebook or Google to see who might be available in your area. Great idea to keep it, clean it up and reframe it for use elsewhere. Or look for a (historic) window restoration company. It can be saved, you just need to find the right person or company.

Waiting to hear from a man about 20 miles away as to when he could come look at it. But wanted some ideas so he doesn't try to take me to the cleaners on it!! Thank you !!!

Why can't you just frame it like a picture? Don't see what a stained glass person will do that you can't. I DO stained glass. If there are bars in it for stability just flip them over and put in a frame. DONT fuss with the lead. You will ruin the patina. Just a soft cloth and soap or at the most Simple Green. Lead is very soft and you can easily damage it with scrubbing. Just wash and frame. You can add eye hooks and hang elsewhere with a chain.
