What is the best applicator for applying deck stain?

Hi Georgia, it depends on the type of stain you're using. Most stains specific for decks you roll on almost like paint. Regular wood stain you would put on and then remove the excess. You will need to a lot of it by hand with a brush to get in all the nooks, crannies and between the boards.
A lot of stains can be applied with a garden sprayer along with brushes or rollers.
I think the tried & true is good ole paint brushes & rollers.
