Hello there, Use WD40 - it's great for the job!
It depends upon how rusty item is. Test this out,...in a spot that is not noticeable, spray with WD40,...let it set a few minutes, & wipe down. I did it to an old Army footlocker, & results were good. Good luck !
If you have an old trunk that smell misery how do you get rid of that?
The best rust remover I have found is from our local Dollar Store! Spray it on, then wipe it off after a couple of minutes. For really stubborn areas, rub off with steel wool. For those rusted locks, it is easier to remove them and soak them.
To get rid of rust, put Coke in a spray bottle and spray on rusted area. Let it sit for about 10 minutes and wipe off.
To get rid of odors, rip the top off a new box of baking soda, put it in the trunk and close the lid. Check it in a few days. Repeat with a new box of baking soda, if necessary.
