How can I display this bamboo shoot?

You need a container that has a much smaller mouth so that it stands more upright like a bamboo would outdoors. Normally most have more than one. I have the regular straight lucky bamboo and it has multiple stalks that are tied together and it stands straight upright in a much smaller container that has gravel almost up to the top of the vase to keep them upright and looking nice. You could fill the container with whatever gravel is in the bottom and it will stand upright, but it will still look lost in that wide of a container. Garden centers that have indoor plants, like Home Depot, always have many and you can see the different ways and containers they use for their lucky bamboo. If yours is lucky bamboo, it is actually in the Dracaena family and not a true bamboo. They are easy to care for, just keep the water level up and it will continue to grow for you. Mine went from about eight inches to almost twenty-four in a little over two years. It will not curl on its own, it will probably start to grow upright on the new growth.

If you don't have a smaller container add more decorative rock to support the bamboo stem.

Agree with Nancy on a different container. I was thinking glass marbles in the current container.

Marbles or river rocks would look great (or both). Just a thought, you could make something to put in the bottom and put a nail through it making sort of a frog and people would wonder how it was standing.

You can also plant this in dirt and watch a beautiful plant grow. Just keep the soil moist for a few weeks until actual roots grow.

Most of the ones you buy in a container are in a much shorter container that is narrow. The plant is held upright with pea gravel. Put the bamboo in and fill with gravel then top with water. Make sure the container is deep enough for the gravel to hold the plant upright.

You are definitely smart NOT to plant it in the ground outdoors. That stuff is very invasive unless you get the clumping variety. The wine bottle idea is great unless you would like to add it as the focal point in a planter with a variety of plants in it. If the latter, suggest what others said about planting it deep enough in the pot so it doesn't tilt (over) and surround it with smaller/shorter plants; then add a layer of pea gravel, decomposed granite, or small river rock for a 'feng shui' (sp?) look.
