What else does this area need?

Hi Debbie! I feel that with walls, sometimes, less is more! Perhaps adding a floor lamp behind the chair in the corner will help fill in some of the emptiness without cluttering up the wall too much? Something like these:

Obviously, it wouldn't have to be these exact lamps (they're quite pricey), but you get the idea in terms of size and style .

Hi Debbie! The art is lovely, and a good tie-in to the other colors of the room. The way it is placed gives the impression of trying to fill a large space with something not large enough. Depending on your taste, a couple of small shelves that have a few items, such as a similarly colored vase with silk flowers, or even a couple of live plants, or a rectangular planter with wheat grass can bring in the same colors and add some interest and balance. One of the things I ask my clients first, however, is this: do you have the painting there so you can look at it or so that it's the first thing viewed by someone entering the room? Right now, it isn't where someone in the chairs can really look at it, and it is too small to be alone on that big wall. So think about where you want to enjoy this painting before surrounding it with stuff. I rarely center a painting on a wall. Hope this sparks some ideas.

Hi :-) The overall first impression for me is that everything seems to float; there is no visual anchor in the space. Lots of ideas above but it all depends on your budget. Because I do my own construction and cabinet work, I'd add low cabinets/bookshelves in line with the TV cabinet. This would tie that sight line around the room , cozy up the space and anchor the wall art. You needn't build them yourself...ready made upper cabinets work very well as base cabinets in a situation like this. Just add a counter top along the top surface.:-)

Like said above, the painting is too small for the wall. I can understand you want to keep it on that wall because it is magnifique.

If it was me, I would hang it mor to the right, lets say : the middle of the picture becomes the left side. on the same hight. I would move forward the little table next to the chair but still in reach and I would put a planter there with bamboo in it or another plant (life or artificial) but at least as high or higher than the top of the television. By the way, I love the combination of the color if your floor and the rest

I would put a tall green plant in the corner behind the chair. (Unless you have cats like me, then forget that idea). Then perhaps an artificial plant.

You have a great mix of fabrics and the floor is great. You have a lot of very light colors, walls, ceilings and a light color tv stand. Perhaps color on the walls? Love the picture but it is too small for the room. Maybe a larger picture with brighter colors? Mirrors on the walls? Not sure of room size but perhaps a larger entertainment unit, maybe built in with extra storage that includes room for a tv? Just thoughts..

I would move the chair away from the wall and closer to rug. I would exchange the painting for a large macrame hanging( check Etsy) with a large plant nearby to add interest

Put 2 smaller pictures of flowers on either side but pictures should be simple botanical flower sketches and fairly uniform so the big picture dominates

Well,lots of good ideas..my first thought was..oh a floor lamp on left side..and some greenery on the right..or end table with lamp on left,especially for task lighting,then tallish greenery on floor next to tv console. If you put too much on the wall it will look very busy, and ....most of us need reading light next to our chairs. I love goodwill for lamps! 🤗

first thing I noticed was the chair ..The picture looks like the chair is up against the corner..perhaps placing it caddy corner like the tv stand would be a big change in the look. crown molding in your future.(.white) would be nice and glass top for the stool in front of the couch and you could use it for a coffee table and something decorative with the color in the picture. Brighter pillows in that color also for the couch. good luck!

Hi Debbie. I think you need to bring in the blue colour of the vase in the painting into the room. Make or buy cushions to match.

Crown mouldings, a larger baseboard and some other architectural details. After that, rethink what should be hunb on the walls. The painting should be off-center this giving you opportunity for other possibilities.
