How do I add curb appeal to my back entrance door?

We use the back door of our house and it's plain. From one end to the other, including the door right in the middle, it's white. No Color of any kind. The back door has 9 pains of glass and is nice. Maybe repaint. Our trash can is also on this side and is ugly. We have no patio or landing. Just 4 steps going up to the door. We don't want to screw or nail anything into the siding or paint it. Sure I have plants but with a 3 foot foundation it really doesn't do much. I have a short ladder I painted barn red, my favorite color. I have 1 shutter about 4 feet tall I want to do something with. I do have a wreath on the door. Maybe some garland around the door? But I would need something big. I need some ideas "outside of the box"

Kim...Paint would be nice and you could also do some potted plants to add color. Since you just have one shutter you can coordinate colors and add the initial of you last name to it. Hope this helps a little.

Can you fix small boxes to the ladder on the rungs and plant up seasonal plants.

Can you make a screen with the shutter to put Infront of the bins, then Infront of this plant some pots in red with climbing plants that have white flowers.

The door can be painted red or keep the white but add red to the wreath.

Think of the planting to tye everything into a red and white scheme. Maybe paint the steps.

Add a red sign for traders come to the back door.

I love Sal's idea above of adding boxes to the ladder or alternatively hanging baskets look fab. I also love this doormat idea
