How do I paint a playhouse for my granddaughter?

I’m buying a playhouse 8’x16’ for my granddaughter, I want to paint the wood ceiling sky blue w/ white clouds, painting walls white. I’d like to paint the wood floors multicolored squares using a minimum of 3 colors (aqua, pale blue, & pale yellow) sealing w/ clear polyurethane. I’d appreciate any advice on technique, especially on floors. Thanks, Susie

I painted a shed ceiling sky blue, with white rafters and walls. It was beautiful. On the floor divide up your squares with painters tape. I added a piece of used commercial carpet which I found on Craigs List pretty cheap. You can also ask at carpet stores if they have any remnants.

Thank you, I thought about the painters tape & letting each or every other square dry between time, probably my best bet.

try porch paint. I used it on a planting and potting bench and the paint lasted for years.

Hi ! Maybe , paint the floor yellow , then use a stencil to add the other colors . Since it is a pretty big playhouse , use a bigger stencil . Another idea is to paint a rug onto the wood floor , using the colors you want , even paint a fringed edge , then stain the wood part around the painted carpet. It would look cute !

Just search on the hometalk site , stenciled floors . There should be lots of tutorials !
