I use an equal mix of white vinegar and water in a sprayer. Works in a few days. Or pour boiling water on the weeds to kill immediately.

The closest thing to commercial weed killers (which are so toxic)

is a mixture of one gallon of extra strong vinegar (It’s made by Heinz and is available in many grocery stores), two cups of Epsom salts and one fourth cup of Dawn liquid dish detergent. The mixture applied with a sprayer is pretty effective.

You should be reasonably careful not to get it on the surrounding vegetation. We mostly use it for sidewalks and paver stone areas, but you can use it in the lawn also. Just use a pinpoint spray, not a wide spray. The object is to get the leaved of the weed really wet with this mixture. It hasn’t hurt our soil and we can use it safely without worrying about it being a carcinogen. Have you ever REALLY read the label s on commercial weed killers and pre-emergents? It’s terrifying!
