A piece of cardboard and some artificial flowers help save an eyesore and create the perfect spring display.

I recently bought this vintage basket/tray off of etsy. I loved the unusual weave to this basket and knew it was the perfect addition to my collection. Unfortunately, it suffered from some damage in the lower right corner. It was priced accordingly and I thought I could come up with something to hide this damage and still display this basket.

I thought a small wreath would be perfect to decorate and disguise the corner of my basket. I already had this bunch of artificial spring flowers in my craft supplies.

So I cut this 5 inch ring from some cardboard in my recycling.

I decided to just use the blue flowers and the little leaves from my artificial flowers. I cut off the flower tops and the leaves from the stems using just basic scissors.

Then I began laying out and gluing down my leaves and flowers. First I glued down one of the leaves to cover the cardboard, then placed a flower on top of the leaf.

With the next leaf, I overlapped the first, making sure that none of the cardboard was showing, and placed another flower on top.

I used a generous amount tacky glue to make this wreath. The tacky glue has a slower drying time, which allowed me to move my materials around as I worked, and it dries completely clear.

I continued to build my wreath in this manner until my cardboard ring was completely covered. I tucked in a few extra flowers and stems to fill it in. Then I left my wreath to dry over night.

I hung my new basket with its little wreath under another basket I have hanging on the wall in our dining room. This round basket houses a twig star that I made. You can find the tutorial for this star on my blog.

This rectangular basket/tray was the perfect size to fill an empty space under the larger round basket. And I'm glad I came up with an easy way to hide the damage and still enjoy displaying this basket.

I love my little farmhouse spring wreath. It was an easy and pretty way to "fix" my basket and adds to my basket collection.
