How do I clean a silver plated ice bucket?
It has a plastic/foam liner that cannot be removed. I use it for my cooking utensils in my kitchen and I love it but it needs to sparkle again.
dawn dish soap and hot water is a start, but if you don’t dry and lightly polish after each use you’re probably wasting your time..it’s not a one and done..
If it is tarnished, use toothpaste, the original kind with nothing added like gel or baking soda. It rinses off easily with warm water and will remove tarnish if you have it. Dry it with a soft cloth or towel. If you don't have tarnish and it is just accumulating some dirt, use the hot water with just a little Dawn dish washing soap and soak it for a few minutes before scrubbing the dirt off with a toothbrush. If it has soft stones like opal, pearls, turquoise, etc. don't soak it, just gently brush it with the water and little soap, rinse and dry them. I wear a lot of sterling jewelry, if you don't wear them real frequently or all the time, they will tarnish easily. I have necklaces that I wear all the time and never take them off and they have never tarnished except the one time I didn't take them off when I went into a salt water hot tub, they turned black and took a long time to get them back to normal! Enjoy your clean sterling jewelry!
Hi Tami! I use a cloth to polish my sterling silver jewelry. It works well for me, but there are cleaners too. I just have had better luck with the cloth.

I sell a lot of silver on Ebay. Jewelry, silverware, serving sets. Silver polish like Wrights and dips like TarnX tend to remove some of the metal. The foil method doesn't work that great and still leaves a grey film that still needs to be removed. I use white toothpaste (not gel) and a damp toothbrush. For large items I use a damp cloth. Also works on copper, brass, gold, porcelain, ceramics, sneakers, plastics, etc. For my sales I needed one product for cleaning everything.
