Headboard Makeover (including Fabric!) With Chalk Paint
I found a beautiful headboard at a flea market. I loved it, but it needed some updating - and the tufted fabric had a smell to it. I couldn't have my guests sleeping with that smell! My solution? I painted everything - including the tufted fabric!
I just couldn't pass this piece up. I saw way too much potential!
I used (watered down - see my blog for all the details) Annie Sloan paint (Pure White on the fabric and Paris Grey on the frame) and clear wax.
The velvet fabric really soaked up the paint.
I applied a wax once the paint was dry.
And this is my result - for all my guests to enjoy!
I love how the chalk paint and sanding really bring out the detail of this piece. And, the musty smell of the fabric is gone! Now my guests can sleep soundly.
